A comprehensive list of all data managed by the Secretariat on behalf of the Commission is available here. The restricted data can be requested in accordance with the Rules for Access and Use of CCAMLR Data and visualised in the flowchart below.
Access to restricted data is limited to Members and all requests must be endorsed by the relevant National Representative before submission to the Secretariat.
- Requests for Science Data must be endorsed by the Scientific Committee Representative.
- Requests for Fishery Monitoring and Compliance Data must be endorsed by the Commissioner.
Data requested for work specifically outlined and endorsed by the Commission or Scientific Committee are released upon request by the relevant National Representative (as per paragraph 2(a) of the Rules), while for work not specifically endorsed by the Commission or Scientific Committee permission from the data owners needs to be obtained (as per paragraph 2(b) of the Rules).
- The Secretariat provides data owners a 3-week period to approve or refuse the release of data and a 2-week period to approve or refuse the publication of results of analysis using CCAMLR data.
- If a data owner doesn’t approve the release, the Secretariat facilitates consultation between the requestor and the owner to reach an agreement. If no agreement is reached, the data are not released or not approved for publication, and the matter is reported to the Scientific Committee and Commission.
Only data released following the procedure specified in paragraph 2(b) of the Rules for Access and Use of CCAMLR Data can be used to develop materials intended for publication in the public domain.
To initiate a request, the appropriate template can be filled out and submitted to the Secretariat at ccamlr [at] ccamlr [dot] org.
