The Scientific Committee encourages fishing vessels to collect acoustic data as frequently as possible along nearby CCAMLR transects while conducting fishing operations. For this purpose, WG-ASAM created an instruction manual for the collection of acoustic data by fishing vessels (WG-ASAM-2023 Appendix D).

In addition, WG-ASAM created specific instructions for:

1. Echosounder Calibration (WG-ASAM-2024 Appendix D)
2. Trawl Sampling (WG-ASAM-2024 Appendix E)
3. CTD Sampling (WG-ASAM-2024 Appendix F)

Data Submission:

Vessels can document their acoustic data sampling activities using the proposed Acoustic Metadata Submission Form and use it to report the data the Secretariat at data [at] ccamlr [dot] org. Raw acoustic data can be submitted to the Secretariat through the acoustic submission portal at https://ccamlr.portal.massive.io/. If the amount of data intended to be submitted exceed 1 TB, please contact the Secretariat to discuss submission using a physical hard drive.
