  1. A characterisation of the toothfish fishery in Subareas 88.1 and 88.2 from 1997/98 to 2005/06

Abstract:  The exploratory fishery for Antarctic toothfish (D. mawsoni) has been operating for nine years in Subarea 88.1 and for five years in Subarea 88.2 with a large amount of data collected on toothfish and the associated bycatch. All SSRUs in the two subareas except for 881D and 882C have now

    Meeting Document : WG-FSA-06/29 : Автор(ы): S.M. Hanchet, M.L. Stevenson and A. Dunn (New Zealand)

  2. Towards a seabird mortality risk assessment: distribution of seabirds in the WCPFC Convention Area and potential overlap with fisheries

Abstract:  This paper reviews the distribution of seabird species with the WCPFC Area. From a review of the distributions of 99 species of albatross and petrel, 16 species of albatross and 60 species of petrel occur within the area of the WCPFC, and are potentially vulnerable to fisheries bycatch.

    Meeting Document : WG-FSA-06/30 : Автор(ы): S. Waugh (New Zealand)

  3. Some thoughts on the CCAMLR risk assessment for seabird–fishery interactions

Abstract:  The CCAMLR system for assessing risk of fisheries mortalities to seabirds has been applied for 10 years and helps to define mitigation and monitoring requirements for fisheries within the waters of the CCAMLR convention area. Annual review of the information by used CCAMLR Working Group

    Meeting Document : WG-FSA-06/33 : Автор(ы): S. Waugh (New Zealand)

  4. Estimating fishing gear selectivity for trawlers using length-frequency data from concurrent commercial trawl and longline fishing for Patagonian toothfish in Division 58.5.2 and the ratio of their hazard functions

Abstract:  The upper-arm of the length-dependent fishing selectivity function for trawlers fishing for Patagonian toothfish around Heard Island (Division 58.5.2) was modelled as the exponential of a quadratic function in length. This function was calibrated using random length frequency (LF) data

    Meeting Document : WG-FSA-06/35 : Автор(ы): S.G. Candy (Australia)

  5. Assessment models for Antarctic toothfish (Dissostichus mawsoni) in SSRU 882E including data from the 2005/06 season

Abstract:  We provide an update of the Bayesian sex and age structured population stock assessment model for Antarctic toothfish (Dissostichus mawsoni) in the SSRU 88.2E, using revised catch, CPUE, catch-at-age and tag-recapture data from New Zealand and all vessels. The updated reference case

    Meeting Document : WG-FSA-06/48 : Автор(ы): A. Dunn and S.M. Hanchet (New Zealand)

  6. Assessment of toothfish in Subarea 48.3, 2006

Abstract:  1. As requested by SAM-2006, we provide a reference assessment for toothfish in Subarea 48.3. We provide sensitivity runs that include revised maturity and catch weighted proportion at length data. We additionally provide a sensitivity run which examines uncertainty in IUU catches from

    Meeting Document : WG-FSA-06/53 : Автор(ы): D.J. Agnew, R. Hillary, M. Belchier, J. Clark and J. Pearce (United Kingdom)

  7. Estimates of natural and fishing mortality from toothfish mark–recapture and catch-at-age data at South Georgia

Abstract:  This paper presents new results and estimation bias analyses for a Bayesian mark-recapture model, applied to the South Georgia toothfish tagging data. The updated model incorporates the data from all the analysed cohorts in the estimation routine, and we examine the potential estimation

    Meeting Document : WG-FSA-06/54 : Автор(ы): R.M. Hillary and D.J. Agnew (United Kingdom)

  8. A proposal methodology to assess the Patagonian toothfish stock abundance at CCAMLR Subarea 48.3 using ASPM

Abstract:  The ASPM is an integrated modeling technique used in stock assessment of different D. eleginoides fisheries (Prince Edward Islands and Patagonian Shelf) and allows fitting to many different information sources, such as catch and age and size data from fishing fleet, surveys and others

    Meeting Document : WG-FSA-06/59 : Автор(ы): O.C. Wöhler and P.A. Martínez (Argentina)

  9. Assessment models for Antarctic toothfish (Dissostichus mawsoni) in the Ross Sea including data from the 2005/06 season

Abstract:  We provide an update of the Bayesian sex and age structured population stock assessment model for Antarctic toothfish (Dissostichus mawsoni) in the Ross Sea (Subareas 88.1 and SSRUs 88.2A–B), using revised catch, CPUE, catch-at-age and tag-recapture data from New Zealand vessels. The

  10. Seabird warp-strike form

Abstract:  Form used with protocol for observing warp strikes in trawl fisheries Author(s):  Ministry of Fisheries (New Zealand) Title:  Seabird warp-strike form Approval:  Approved
