  1. Some aspects of size composition dynamics of Antarctic toothfish (Dissostichus mawsoni) from the Ross Sea (Statistical Subarea 88.1)

Abstract:  The analysis of the data on size composition of Antarctic toothfish (Dissostichus mawsoni) from catches in different statistical areas of the Ross Sea was given. Biological data for two fishery periods were selected for comparison: 2003-2005 and 2008-2012. It allowed estimating changes

  3. Preliminary analysis of toothfish catch, CPUE, size structure and mark-recapture data from SSRUs 486A and 486G, with comments on the sustainability of different harvest levels

Abstract:  Available catch, effort, catch-at-size and tagging data for Statistical Subarea 48.6 are analysed to provide preliminary assessments for Dissostichus mawsoni and D. eleginoides separately in Subarea 48.6 north of 60°S (the combined SSRUs 48.6A and 48.6G). A preliminary assessment for D.

  4. Comparative analysis of the results of determination of reproductive ability of Antarctic toothfish in the Subarea 88.3

Abstract:  Results of histological analysis of gonads of female and male Antarctic toothfish Dissostichus mawsoni caught in the Bellingshausen Sea in 2011- 2012 seasons are presented. Morphological indices of females and males, age, indices of gonads, fecundity, and condition by Fulton are

  5. Modern data on parasitofauna of Dissostichus mawsoni and by-catch species from logline fishing in Antarctica

Abstract:  Parasites are one of an integral part of any ecosystem and unfortunately knowledge about this ecological group in Antarctica is very scared. Partial geographical and ecological isolation of Antarctic circumpolar ecosystem plays its role on existence of endemic forms of animals, including

  6. An analysis of temporal variability in abundance, diversity and growth rates in the coastal ichthyoplankton assemblage of South Georgia (sub-Antarctic)

Abstract:  Data from a seven-year (2002-2008) ichthyoplankton sampling programme in Cumberland Bay, South Georgia, sub-Antarctic (54.25 o S, 36.5 o W) were analysed to assess temporal changes in larval fish diversity and abundance. Larvae of twenty two species, representing nine families, were

  7. Distribution and biology of grey notothen (Lepidonotothen squamifrons) around South Georgia and Shag Rocks (Southern Ocean) CCAMLR Subarea 48.3.

Abstract:  Lepidonotothen squamifrons (Family Nototheniidae) is a demersal Southern Ocean endemic fish. Historically a commercially targeted species and common as bycatch, changes to CCAMLR fisheries regulations in 1989 have meant it is now only caught in sub-area 48.3 during research surveys. Data

  8. Molecular and morphological identification of Macrourus species caught as by-catch in the toothfish longline fisheries in CCAMLR Subareas 48.3 and 48.4.

Abstract:  Genetic identification of grenadiers taken as bycatch in the toothfish longline fishery at South Georgia was compared with results of morphological identifications made by scientific observers and fisheries biologists. There was generally good agreement between methods although issues

  9. Results from the reduced groundfish survey conducted in CCAMLR Subarea 48.3 in January 2012

Abstract:  A reduced (three day) groundfish survey took place at Shag Rocks on the FV New Polar between the 26-28th January 2012. This survey was not intended to be a full biomass survey so only 20 random hauls were completed around Shag Rocks with 3 additional opportunistic sites at South Georgia.

  10. Manual for age determination of Antarctic toothfish, Dissostichus mawsoni V2

Abstract:  An age determination manual for Antarctic toothfish (Dissostichus mawsoni) was produced for CCAMLR in 2010. The manual has been updated to include the development and use of a reference set to provide training and refresher material for agers, and to formally track reader performance and
