As requested by the SCIC Chair, Ms Meggan Engelke-Ros, four electronic discussion groups (e-groups) were created to assist the work of SCIC. A summary is presented in this background paper of the discussions across the four e-groups.

Le présent document examine les activités menées par le secrétariat en 2020 et 2021 en soutien du Comité scientifique. Il fait par ailleurs le point sur la préparation d'un nouveau volume de CCAMLR Science et préconise pour 2022, que le prochain directeur scientifique travaille avec le Comité de rédaction de CCAMLR Science pour mettre à jour la politique de publication des documents scientifiques de la CCAMLR.

Abstract:
Two proposals seeking support from the CEMP Special Fund were reviewed according to the assessment criteria. An additional proposal was referred to the panel from the General Capacity Building Fund panel. The management panel recommends that the Scientific Committee endorse the recommendations for funding totalling A$135 000 for 2021/22. In addition, the management panel made several recommendations to improve efficiency and to streamline management of the fund.
Abstract:
The Secretariat received fishery notifications for exploratory fisheries for toothfish and krill fisheries for 2021/22. No notifications were received for new fisheries. The summary details of all fishery notifications are in this paper, the full details for the consideration of Members of the Commission are available to authenticated users through the CCAMLR website Fishery Notifications.
