This paper is presented for the Commission’s consideration and sets out the projected outcome of the budget for 2009, a draft of the 2010 budget and an indicative forecast for the 2011 budget. The presentation is in the format determined by the Commission at its 2002 Meeting.

This is an informational paper to introduce the CCAMLR membership to the efforts of the Group on Earth Observations (GEO) to create and operate of the Global Earth Observation System of Systems (GEOSS). GEOSS may provide useful information and services to strengthen science and management in Antarctica. No action by the Commission is required at this time.

Information on CCAMLR fisheries of relevance to the work of WG-FSA is summarised, including availability of data, data-related developments in 2007/08, catches in assessed and exploratory fisheries, and updates to WG-FSA’s Fishery Reports. Additional fishery-related information can be found in WG-FSA-08/5 to 08/8 (summaries of observer data), SC-CAMLR-XXVII/BG/1 (catches in the Convention Area) CCAMLR-XXVII/12 (summary of notification for new and exploratory fisheries), WG-FSA-08/10 (estimates of IUU catches) and CCAMLR-XXVII/BG/15 (implementation of fishery-related conservation measures).
