In mid-July we welcomed Daphnis De Pooter to the Secretariat. Daphnis has relocated from Belgium to join us in Hobart in the role of Science Data Officer. This position is a new international post for the Secretariat as part of the 2019–2022 Strategic Plan. As part of the Science team, Daphnis will provide a key link between CCAMLR's databases and the scientists using the data. He will also be part of CCAMLR's Data Centre; a team working across four different departments that manages the lifecycle of all of CCAMLR data. Daphnis has spent the last 8 years working at the Flanders Marine Institute as a data manager, where he developed expertise in science-related data systems, making him an ideal fit for this new role.
We are very excited to welcome Daphnis to the Secretariat and to Tasmania and look forward to helping him make a home here in Hobart.
