The CCAMLR System of Inspection has been established to ensure that activities in CCAMLR-managed waters are undertaken in accordance with the measures adopted by the Commission. The verification of compliance with measures adopted by the Commission in pursuance of its objectives is of central importance in the implementation of the Convention. Inspectors play a significant and prominent role in this process, and it is essential that they fully understand their functions, rights and responsibilities and conduct their inspections courteously and professionally. This manual has been prepared by the CCAMLR Secretariat to provide CCAMLR Inspectors with all available information that might assist them in the conduct of their duties. Since the 1992/93 season, the Inspectors Manual has been issued in ring-binder form. Revisions are issued to Members periodically in the form of replacement or additional pages and sections are accompanied by instructions for their insertion into the binder. Members should ensure that all revisions are inserted upon receipt in accordance with the instructions in order to keep the Manual up to date.
